What role might I play?
The role you play in a response depends upon your training and skills.
Possible emergency response roles are: - Assisting in delivery of medical care within your level of expertise
as an RN, LPN, CNA, MD, EMT, medical secretary, or other credentialed volunteer.
- Providing mental health support.
- Providing medical interpreting and translation services.
- Assisting with set up and flow of clinics.
- Lending the community your special skills during
an emergency event.

Why is it necessary for me to register pre-disaster? During disasters, large numbers of professionals with many different skills show up
to help, but many of them are turned away because they are without the safety and emergency skills training given pre-event
to keep personnel safe. An effective response requires that volunteers follow a pre-established protocol for activation and
follow the incident command system. My time is valuable.
What do I get in return? - The
satisfaction of giving back to your community through providing health education or a health service and the satisfaction
in assisting other local communities with essential services during a time of emergency.
- Networking. Meet other members of the community and experts in the field
of public health preparedness, attend training events, and participating in conference meetings.
- Receive cost-free or minimal cost training. Get prepared
by the best. For the sake of safety, one training per year is required to remain an active member.
